Furnitureland South is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to join our accounting team. The Corporate Controller will manage some or all of the functions responsible for general and property accounting, payroll and benefit accounting, accounts receivable and payable accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, financial reporting and analysis, and budgetary controls. Financial Leadership & Reporting Coordinate the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Furnitureland South. Present financial results, analysis, and trends to the Executive Team during monthly financial review meetings. Provide the Executive Team with timely insights, financial data, risks, and opportunities to support business decisions. Audit, Tax & Regulatory Compliance Coordinate processes for annual audits by preparing all required workpapers, collaborating with accounting staff, and serving as primary liaison to auditors. Lead the annual tax return preparation process and partner with external CPA firms to address tax strategies, projections, compliance, and planning. Accurately calculate and file multistate sales tax reports each month. Budgeting, Forecasting & Internal Controls Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process. Implement and maintain financial control procedures to monitor performance against goals. Evaluate accounting functions and processes for continuous improvement. Assess and strengthen internal control systems. Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting modules within ERP software (including NetSuite) and supporting databases. Operational & Entity Oversight Manage and oversee all financial reporting, accounting functions, and data gathering for The Gathering Table restaurant and the Starbucks onsite location. Manage all Harris Family entities' financial obligations, including cash management, payments, tax documentation, and ownership distributions. Oversee daily operations of the accounting department and establish KPIs to measure efficiency and performance. Use creative problem-solving to address operational issues, concerns, or emerging needs. Leadership & Collaboration Hire, train, develop, and retain skilled accounting staff. Ensure confidentiality and integrity across all financial functions. Support special projects assigned by the Executive Director of Finance & Operations. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 10+ years of accounting experience. Strong understanding of state and federal tax processes. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and contribute to team success. Continuous improvement mindset with strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred Education and Experience Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field. CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification. Previous experience in retail accounting. Experience with NetSuite ERP.
