Responsibilities The Market Leader - Assisted Living provides hands-on strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across a multi-state portfolio of assisted living communities. This role has direct oversight of Executive Directors and is accountable for quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and resident experience. The ideal candidate brings a strong clinical background (RN preferred) combined with proven multi-site operational leadership in assisted living. Deep regulatory expertise - particularly within Pennsylvania - is essential. This leader directly drives execution at the community level, ensuring operational discipline, clinical integrity, and consistent performance across all locations. Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Community Oversight • Directly supervise and support Executive Directors across assigned states. • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability metrics. • Conduct regular site visits and operational reviews. • Lead corrective action plans and performance improvement initiatives. • Build strong partnerships with community clinical leaders (DON/Wellness Directors). Operational Leadership • Drive occupancy growth, rate strategy, and margin performance. • Standardize KPIs, reporting cadence, and performance dashboards. • Lead operational turnarounds when necessary. • Ensure consistency in resident experience and service delivery. Clinical & Quality Oversight • Ensure compliance with state assisted living regulations and life safety requirements. • Oversee resident assessments, care planning, medication management, and infection control practices. • Reduce deficiencies, complaint volume, and risk exposure. • Implement portfolio-wide QAPI processes. Regulatory & Compliance Expertise • Maintain strong working knowledge of Pennsylvania assisted living regulations (55 Pa. Code Chapter 2800) and other applicable state requirements. • Lead survey preparation, mock surveys, and post-survey plan-of-correction execution. • Serve as escalation point for regulatory inquiries and complaint investigations. • Monitor regulatory updates and proactively adjust operations. Financial & Business Performance • Full P&L responsibility for assigned communities. • Develop and manage annual operating budgets. • Drive labor optimization and staffing model alignment. • Partner with sales leadership to improve census and retention. People & Talent Development • Recruit, coach, and develop Executive Directors. • Strengthen succession planning at the community level. • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and resident-centered care. • Lead performance management and leadership development efforts. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree (MHA, MBA, or related) preferred. • Active RN license strongly preferred. • 7-10+ years of progressive assisted living leadership experience. • Multi-site, multi-state operational oversight required. • Direct experience supervising Executive Directors. • Demonstrated P&L responsibility. • Deep understanding of Pennsylvania assisted living regulations. • Strong regulatory survey experience. • Ability to travel up to 60%. Preferred Experience • Northeast/Mid-Atlantic portfolio experience. • Memory care program oversight. • Experience in both private-pay and Medicaid waiver environments. • Turnaround or stabilization leadership experience.
