Find a fulfilling career and make a difference with UnityPoint Health.ResponsibilitiesThe Surgery Clinical Reviewer collects and manages patient data for the Surgery Clinic and the John Stoddard Breast Cancer Program. This position reports to the Clinic Administrator and supports clinical quality improvement efforts. Collects and enters preoperative, operative, 30-day, six-month, and annual follow-up data. Gathers required data for breast cancer surgery patients for the program registry. Uses hospital medical record systems and software to ensure accurate data reporting. Works closely with surgeons, nursing staff, medical records, and other departments. Assists with referral scheduling and prior authorizations (procedures, medications, imaging). Manages referral work queues and ensures schedules are accurate. Scans outside medical records into patient charts. Sends consult notes to referring providers. Helps with clinic duties such as stocking rooms, autoclaving instruments, ordering supplies, handling in-basket messages, FMLA paperwork, and other surgery-related tasks. Fills in when the clinic is short-staffed. Qualifications Bachelors degree or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), LPN, CMA, RN or Registered Dietician degrees/licenses One year of experience in surgery, clinical research or medical records with clinical chart review experience is required Epic experience a plus! Medical terminology, anatomy or physiology a plus!
