Job Title: Construction Engineering Inspector Work Location: Atlanta, GA Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with the manager in the interview Duties/Responsibilities: Oversee and monitor contractor activities on construction sites, performing inspections and conducting material sampling and testing to guarantee alignment with project plans and specifications. Conduct various materials testing, construction inspections, and traffic control monitoring. Perform field sampling and testing of soil density, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials. Execute routine field tests in accordance with ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, GDOT, and other relevant standards. Maintain and ensure quality assurance throughout project execution. Inspect contractor traffic control measures during transportation construction projects. Meet scheduling and attendance requirements effectively. Interpret schematic drawings to accurately locate and document sampling/testing sites. Understand and interpret construction documents and specifications in compliance with GDOT standards. Education/Experience: High School Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 5+ years of relevant experience in Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI), field inspections, materials testing, and traffic inspections. Experience with interstate transportation projects in urban settings is highly desired. Preferably familiar with MUTCD and GDOT Design Guidelines and Standards. Knowledge of traffic control plans, including traffic shifts, detours, lane closures, or other disruptions. Understanding of the properties, characteristics, and performance of construction materials. Preferred certifications include ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician I, GDOT Concrete Certification, Portable Nuclear Gauge user certification, and RTT certification. Experience in concrete and pavement testing is needed. A valid driver's license and insurability are required. Physical Requirements: Physically mobile in and around construction sites and capable of field assignments. Able to carry required instruments and equipment. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Capable of safely performing essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting required productivity standards.
