Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation (JFCAC) is a non-profit organization established in 1965. We assist low-income individuals and families by providing various resources such as Supplemental Food/Nutrition, Rental Assistance, free Transportation, and much more. We are based in Hillsboro and have many locations throughout both Jefferson and Franklin Counties here in Missouri. We are seeking a Health Professional Assistant (HPA) for our Women, Infants & Children Supplemental Food/Nutrition Program (WIC) Department The WIC Health Professional Assistant (HPA) provides essential clerical and clinical support within the WIC program. This role assists professional staff with the certification process by gathering, entering, and managing participant data, while ensuring a welcoming and efficient clinic environment. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Greet WIC clients, assess the purpose of their visit, and provide general program information. Collect demographic information, measurements (height/length and weight), bloodwork, and immunization records for WIC certification; accurately enter data into the Management Information System (MIS). Promote breastfeeding as the optimal infant feeding method and refer families to the WIC breastfeeding peer counselor as needed. Provide referrals to appropriate health, nutrition, and social service resources. Deliver program information and explain WIC services in accordance with current policy. Issue food instruments and electronic food benefits to eligible participants. Schedule appointments and manage ongoing communications with WIC participants. Adhere to confidentiality standards in accordance with WIC policy and HIPAA regulations. Work with adults, infants, and toddlers to obtain accurate screening measurements and blood samples via fingerstick; assist with growth plotting and charting. Proactively stock, clean, and organize medical intake spaces throughout the day to support smooth appointment flow and clinical readiness. Maintain a clean, safe, and family-friendly waiting area. Participate in community outreach and promotional activities as assigned. Foster respectful, courteous, and professional relationships with participants, coworkers, and partner organizations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or Equivelant (GED/HiSET). Must complete state-mandated training within six months of hire date. At least one year of experience in a community health or nutrition program, or two years in a clerical or administrative support role. OTHER REQUIRED CAPABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work efficiently with a high volume of clients daily. Strong multitasking skills and the ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced clinical environment. Basic proficiency in computer use and data entry. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with participants, coworkers, and partner agencies Ability to travel within and outside the community using personal transportation as needed.
