We are looking for a Commercial Manager (COM) who will play a pivotal leadership role within our Design-Build teams. You will assist the Jacobs Project Manager/Design Manager (PM/DM) and key staff in pursuing and delivering large-scale projects across various markets-from transportation and urban development to water and beyond. This position reports directly to the Vice President and Executive Director of Design Build for Transportation, Cities & Places, and Water. In this role, you will: Collaborate with sales, operations, and contract management to craft and negotiate Teaming Agreements, Subconsultant Agreements, and Design Services Agreements (DSAs) that foster successful partnerships. Enhance contract management practices by developing efficient procedures that adhere to company policies and contracts. Oversee subcontract performance to ensure compliance and fulfill all contractual obligations. Evaluate and validate change opportunities by engaging technical and financial resources, ensuring accuracy in labor, cost, and schedule. Support project teams in preparing and executing change orders, ensuring alignment with contract terms. Lead change negotiations with PMs and DMs to achieve balanced outcomes that protect project interests. Coordinate claim defense readiness by compiling documentation and supporting project teams in potential claim preparation. Conduct thorough reviews of contract documents to minimize ambiguity and identify conflicts that may affect project execution. Proactively assist in risk management by identifying project risks, developing mitigation strategies, and overseeing risk registers. Ensure all insurances, representations, and certifications meet project requirements. Facilitate effective contract administration through organized documentation and record-keeping. Collaborate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing issues effectively. Lead contract closeout efforts alongside PMs and DMs prior to final payment. Provide valuable insights on the financial implications of change orders to project controls. Deliver training on contract awareness and change orders to enhance risk awareness within teams. Qualifications: Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial management, contracts management, and risk management in design-build project delivery, particularly in the architectural and engineering industry. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering, construction management, business, or contract law. Strong commercial awareness and a strategic mindset. Exceptional collaboration and communication skills. Proficiency in document management systems and understanding of cost accounting and project schedules. Ability to work autonomously and travel as required. Ideally, you'll also have: A Master’s degree from an accredited university in engineering, construction management, business, or contract law.
