Cost Estimator and Financial Analyst at Ford Motor Company Join Ford Motor Company as a Cost Estimating Analyst for Power Conversion, focusing on critical components such as Alternators, Starters, 12V Batteries, and Power Banks. This position will involve collaboration with key stakeholders in Purchasing (Supply Chain), Product Development, Material Cost, and Finance to manage and analyze part costs associated with Power Conversion commodities. Responsibilities: Develop and analyze piece cost and tooling estimates for assigned commodities, requiring an in-depth understanding of manufacturing cost structures and supply base capabilities. Support the setting of cost targets, commercial pricing agreements, and change control processes for vehicle programs by delivering precise estimates and detailed cost gap analyses. Assist in vehicle teardowns, benchmarking best practices, and identifying opportunities for material cost reductions. Actively engage in strategic commodity initiatives through relevant cost analyses. Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations for senior leadership, presenting cost analysis clearly and convincingly. Ensure realistic, physically-based assumptions for part manufacturing and effectively communicate these principles to partners and stakeholders. Demonstrate expertise in Activity Based Costing, volume-based costing, and Should Cost methodologies, providing technical guidance and variance explanations. Participate in supplier plant visits alongside Supply Chain and STA to facilitate benchmarking, data gathering, training, and negotiations. Provide negotiation support to Supply Chain teams to achieve material cost reductions with suppliers. Deliver comprehensive cost estimates and analyses to support Program Lifecycle, TVM, Benchmarking, etc., aimed at driving design and commercial cost reductions. Commit to a 4+ day onsite presence and occasional travel to both Ford and supplier facilities. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering or Finance/Business with relevant experience. Engineering degree with 3+ years in business/finance, or Finance/Business degree with 3+ years in manufacturing. 3+ years of experience in automotive component manufacturing processes. Preferred experience in constructing and analyzing manufacturing costs from engineering specifications and functional requirements. Proficiency in data analysis techniques. Proven track record of driving agile transformations within costing environments. Exceptional communication skills and experience in cross-functional collaboration. Experience in implementing advanced agile approaches, utilizing data analytics, and incorporating AI for efficiency improvements. Ability to engage stakeholders effectively through persuasive storytelling. A collaborative mindset with the capacity to work across teams and levels. Strong sense of urgency and tenacity in complex situations. Experience in one or more of the following fields is crucial: Electrical/Electronics/SMT Motor Windings/Rare Earths Can also include: Driver Assist Systems, Metal Casting, Extrusion, Machining, Plastic Injection Molding, Stamping, and more. Familiarity with Estimating Software like FACTON, APRIORI, or SIEMENS to develop optimal and Should Cost estimates. Strong understanding of business concepts, quantitative skills, and cost-benefit analysis of supplier methods. Attention to data integrity, accuracy, and problem-solving using data. Leadership and collaboration skills complemented by proactive task management capabilities. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Location and Travel: This role is remote; however, you must be able to work onsite at a Ford Hub (Dearborn, MI or Palo Alto) 4 times a week if located within 50 miles.
