Pharmacist Location: Galena, IL Agency: Ambition 24Hours Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Rotating - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 7 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position AlliedTravelCareers is working with Ambition 24Hours to find a qualified Pharmacist in Galena, Illinois, 61036!Pharmacist in Charge Outpatient Retail Pharmacy (Galena, IL) Industry: Healthcare / Health Services Pharmacy Job Category: Medical / Health Pharmacy Location: Galena, Illinois Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is responsible for overall operation of an outpatient retail pharmacy, including safe preparation and dispensing of medications, leadership of pharmacy technicians, and full compliance with legal and organizational requirements. The role carries primary accountability for patient safety, regulatory adherence, workflow efficiency, and high-quality customer service. Work Schedule Hours: Monday Friday, 9:00 AM 6:30 PM. Lunch: 30-minute unpaid break (12:30 1:00 PM). The pharmacy is closed on weekends and most major holidays. Key Responsibilities Review and execute provider prescriptions, verifying clinical appropriateness, accuracy, and legality. Organize and maintain the pharmacy for efficient and safe product identification, storage, and workflow. Maintain full control over medication inventory, including ordering, stocking, labeling, and monitoring for expiration or deterioration. Provide patient counseling and education; listen carefully to patient concerns and provide clear guidance and medication-use instructions. Prepare and compound medications when appropriate, using correct dosages, calculations, and materials for each patient. Maintain accurate patient profiles and comprehensive histories of medications dispensed. Remain current on HIPAA and Fraud, Waste and Abuse requirements and ensure related credentialing/compliance are up to date. Ensure the pharmacy and all staff comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and internal policies. Ensure staff are aware of and adhere to facility policies and procedures. Direct the daily work of pharmacy technicians, provide input into performance evaluations, and escalate performance or behavioral issues to senior management. Manage pharmacy technician scheduling, and communicate leave-of-absence or accommodation requests to senior management. Utilize the pharmacy s patient management system for dispensing, documentation, and workflow. Perform other duties as needed to support safe and efficient pharmacy operations. Requirements Education & Licensure High school diploma or equivalent (minimum). Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Illinois (candidates must already hold this license; those in process will not be considered). Experience & Skills Minimum 3 5 years of retail pharmacy management experience (pharmacy manager or pharmacist in charge). Previous leadership experience supervising pharmacy technicians and managing daily operations. Ability to effectively use a pharmacy patient management system and related dispensing technology. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage workflow and staff in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for prolonged periods. Frequent use of hands for handling, controlling, or feeling objects, tools, or controls. Fine motor skills sufficient for prescription preparation and computer/data entry.
