Toward this end, it pursues a fourfold mission: to prepare outstanding lawyers and leaders for the bar, the bench, all public and private law settings, and public service; to make nationally and internationally significant legal and policy contributions through an ambitious agenda of research and scholarship; to instill lifelong ethical values, dedication to the cause of justice and a lasting commitment to pro bono and public service; and, to serve the legal profession, the people and institutions of North Carolina, the nation and the world.Position Summary Reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, the Dean of the Law School is the school's Chief Academic Officer and will provide academic, intellectual, and administrative leadership for the school. The dean is responsible for advancing the academic mission and vision of the school. He/she will increase the strength and vitality of the school's educational and scholarly mission by promoting the recruitment and retention of creative and distinguished faculty, while developing resources to support their teaching, research, and scholarly activities. The dean is also responsible for leading the recruitment and retention efforts for attracting high caliber law and graduate students, providing them with superior academic and professional experience. Lead all administrative efforts of the school including development of the school's budget, academic policy development, curriculum development, facilities management, etc. The dean will enhance the financial stability and growth of the school and develop its economic resources as well as implement effective development activities. Provide leadership and guidance in fiscal and personnel matters to the school's department center program administrative managers and program staff; Supervise a staff of permanent and temporary employees. Represent the school in furthering the university's strategic objectives. Represent the school to external constituents.
