Job Details Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) / Travel Nurse Location: Petersburg, WV (Potomac Highlands) — Zip 26847 Contract Length: 13 weeks (Travel nursing assignment) Start Date: March 2, 2026 End Date: June 1, 2026 Setting: Acute Care – Emergency Department (ED) Unit Details: 13 beds, 1 trauma bay, 1 psych-safe room Average Patient Volume: ~35 patients/day (including pediatrics and trauma) Shift: 12-hour day/evening shifts (10:45am – 11:15pm) Shifts per Week: 3 (36 hours/week guaranteed) Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Holiday Requirement: Rotating with core staff Charting: Epic EMR (Electronic Medical Record) Orientation: 2–3 days unit-specific Dress Code: Professional attire (no color requirement) Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,000–$2,100 Job Requirements & Qualifications Experience: Minimum 3 years recent Emergency Room RN experience required (ED clinical acuity) Travel Experience: Previous travel nursing experience required Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (valid for submission) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (AHA or equivalent – all required) Clinical Skills: Proficient with cardiac drips (dopamine, norepinephrine/levophed, nitroglycerin, propofol, insulin), EKG acquisition and interpretation, primary lab draws, and telemetry rhythm interpretation (no monitor techs) Critical Skills: Strong triage, rapid assessment, and critical thinking for high-acuity emergency nursing Teamwork: Comfortable with team nursing, floating to assist other departments, and working with multidisciplinary teams (respiratory therapy, transport) Responsibilities Rapid assessment, triage, and evidence-based emergency care for patients across the lifespan and acuity levels Stabilize and coordinate transfer of critical patients to higher levels of care when required (trauma and critical care transfers) Manage ER holds and support patient flow and disposition planning in an acute care setting Administer and titrate emergency medications and drips per protocol; respond to acute changes in patient condition Interpret cardiac rhythms (telemetry) and act promptly on abnormalities Collaborate in a team-nursing model, support colleagues, and float as needed to maintain safe staffing Assist with transport of critical patients and coordinate care with respiratory therapy for vents and ABGs Document accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR to support continuity of care Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment for patients, families, and staff Benefits & Compensation Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,000–$2,100 (competitive travel nursing pay) Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week Orientation: Unit-specific 2–3 days to ensure safe patient care Travel Nursing Perks: Opportunity to gain ED experience in a rural/trauma-capable hospital, explore Potomac Highlands outdoor activities, and grow your travel nursing resume Ready to make a difference in the Potomac Highlands?
