Position Description The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and proper operation and maintenance of truck. We require that they be committed to the total Ajax team effort by contributing to the proper completion of the work as directed by the foreman. Responsibilities:Proper maintenance of truck, including tire pressures, fluid levels, and lights. Makes sure all necessary supplies are on the truck. Must be able to safely operate and handle truck. Must keep the truck clean on a daily basis. Must arrive on time at job site and make sure Foreman is contacted if you have problems. Must keep all hand tools, equipment and supplies stored on truck organized and clean. Properly and safely load and secure all equipment and materials to be moved. Maintain proper time and daily log of all my activities with proper job numbers. Responsible to keep all D.O.T. permits and copy of current regulations readily available. Realize that there is sometimes a state of urgency in my duties, however, nothing so important as to forget proper safety procedures. Assists on the job as directed by the foreman. Keeps shop informed of equipment problems. Perform other related duties as assigned. Position Requirements Skills: Must possess a Commercial Driver's License, Class A or Class B with Airbrakes Must have experience operating Manual Transmisions Be able to communicate with all positions of the workforce Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills Must possess a clean driving record Education/Experience:High School Diploma 2-5 years of CDL Driving experience, or in a related field Experience in driving Commercial Motor Vehicles in the Roadbuilding Construction Industry is preferred Work Environment/Physical Abilities: The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. Also may require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to ensure implementation of Truck Driver functions.
