Job Description Role Summary/Purpose: As an experienced mechanical design engineer, you'll play a crucial role in the development of the LEAP engine, the fastest-growing engine in aviation history, powering major aircraft such as the Airbus A320neo and the Boeing 737 MAX. Your contributions will be vital in achieving significant fuel reductions and advancing sustainable technologies. Based in Cincinnati, OH, and embedded within the Production Technologies Engineering Design organization, you will directly support the LEAP engine's initiatives. Your expertise in design engineering and leadership will help execute critical cost projects aimed at achieving over $400M in cost reductions by 2025. This role is high-visibility within the organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for steering design engineering cost projects associated with specific components or systems of the LEAP engine and providing regular updates to leadership on project status. Team collaboration is essential; you will work closely with our Supply Chain partners, engaging in on-site visits for relationship building and project execution. The ideal candidate will be an individual contributor with excellent interpersonal skills, adept at executing design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects while adhering to engineering principles and business standards. Responsibilities: Perform design, analysis, or evaluation of projects using sound engineering practices, ensuring compliance with business standards and program requirements. Leverage in-depth technical knowledge and analytical skills to develop and execute strategic initiatives. Stay informed of industry best practices and understand competitive differentiators. Utilize sound judgment to propose innovative solutions for complex manufacturing processes. Act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues and may lead small-scale projects. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. At least 3 years of experience in an engineering design or related role. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; no visa sponsorship will be provided for this role. Desired Characteristics: Proven experience in component design. A motivated, quick learner with a passion for aerospace, our customers, and our innovations. Familiarity with design, testing, and analysis tools. Strong problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to manage initiatives with moderate scope and impact. Established project management skills for coordinating multiple projects concurrently.
