job summary: A Lab Technician is needed for a multinational corporation that produces mirrors as well as a variety of construction, high-performance, and other materials in the Chicago, IL area. This role requires a detail-oriented technician with three years of technical experience to support construction materials testing by preparing concrete batches, performing standardized property tests, and maintaining accurate documentation in a safe laboratory environment. location: Chicago, Illinois job type: Contract salary: $19.58 - 23.00 per hour work hours: 8am to 4pm education: High School responsibilities: Prepare all materials, equipment, and tools necessary for mixing and testing concrete batches. Perform standardized property tests on concrete test batches. Maintain all testing equipment and verify that calibration is accurate. Document and record all test results accurately in physical logs or digital systems. Ensure the laboratory environment remains clean, organized, and safe. Follow all established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment. Assist with the collection, labeling, and organized storage of samples. Provide accurate data to support quality control, engineering, and production teams. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED is required. Associate degree or related coursework in materials science, construction technology, or engineering technology is preferred. Three years of experience in a laboratory, industrial, construction, or hands-on technical environment is required. Proficiency in using computers and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft 365, is required. ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification is preferred. One year of experience performing quality testing or quality audits is preferred. Familiarity with ASTM/ACI testing procedures or experience in a construction materials lab is preferred. Other Requirements strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work. Ability to strictly follow standardized procedures and protocols. Competency in basic math and measurement skills. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to handle technical equipment. Knowledge of chemical mixing or batching is preferred. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
