Job Description: Industry: Healthcare / Health Services Job Category: Medical / Health - Nurse Leadership Supervises: CNA TRAINEE, CNA, SR CNA, LPN, RN, UNIT CLERK Education: Minimum: Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program, Preferred: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or related field or Masters In Nursing or related field License/ Certifications: License: Current NYS License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse. Experience: Minimum: 2 Years of Nursing Experience or 2 Years of LTC experience Preferred: Previous management / leadership experience Other: Minimum: Interpersonal skills which ensure effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.Knowledgeable in the area of management systems and processes. Demonstrated ability to establish effective work relationships in an effort to lead others in the direction of meeting organizational objectives. Analytical skills to assess departmental needs, develop, and implement planned interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of applied interventions. Basic management competencies for the postion assigned. Ability to facilitate project management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling. Familiarity with DOH requirements. Computer literacy required with word processing, spreadsheets, power point Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point & Meditech Customer Focus: Models, exemplifies and leads in accordance with Healing Environment principles. Specifically: being professional, communicating effectively, and attending to the care environment. Population Specific Requirements: The Nurse Manager must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropiate to the age of the patients/residents served within his/her assigned area of responsibility. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and process the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropiate information needed to identify each patient's/resident's requirements relative to age specific needs. Exposure Control Classification: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissue. Responsibility Summary: The Nurse Manager has major responsibility for implementation of strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety and an outstanding patient / resident / family experience. The Nurse Manager intentionally creates an evironment that fosters staff development, staff empowerment,collegial relationships and best practice in the delivery of nursing care. The Nurse Manager allocates resources to promote efficient, effective,compassionate and fiscally responsible nursing care.. The Nurse Manager assures the coordination of care across department lines through a focus on systems that promote interadisciplinary collaboration and communication. The Nurse Manager participates in the recruitment, selection and retention of personnel. Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for personnel accountable to the nurse manager.
