About the Role: The BAS Technician II plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of Building Automation Systems (BAS) across various facilities. This position involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex BAS equipment and software to control HVAC, lighting, and other building systems. The technician will work closely with facility managers and engineering teams to implement system upgrades and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. By proactively identifying system inefficiencies and resolving technical issues, the BAS Technician II helps to improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Ultimately, this role supports the seamless operation of building systems that contribute to a safe, efficient, and sustainable environment. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics, HVAC, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Building Automation Systems or related control systems. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic. Hands-on experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), including Allen-Bradley PLCs, Alerton, Distech, Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls Metasys, Honeywell, and Siemens Desigo. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple job sites as required. Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related technical discipline. Certification in BAS technologies or controls systems (e.g., NATE, BACnet, or equivalent). Experience with network communications protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks. Familiarity with energy management systems and sustainability practices. Strong computer skills including proficiency with diagnostic software and Microsoft Office Suite. Responsibilities: Install, configure, and calibrate BAS hardware and software components according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements. Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on BAS equipment to ensure continuous system functionality. Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults using diagnostic tools and software, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime. Collaborate with engineering and facilities teams to implement system upgrades, modifications, and enhancements. Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, system configurations, and maintenance logs. Provide technical support and training to end-users and junior technicians as needed. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, codes, and company policies during all phases of work. Skills: The BAS Technician II utilizes technical skills daily to install and maintain complex automation systems that control building environments. Troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities are essential for quickly identifying and resolving system malfunctions, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations. Communication skills are important for collaborating with team members and explaining technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge of networking protocols and software tools enables the technician to configure and optimize system performance effectively. Additionally, adherence to safety standards and attention to detail are critical to maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring the reliability of building systems.
