Key Responsibilities: Provide exceptional patient care through thorough examinations, disease diagnosis, treatment plans, and preventive care tailored to each patient’s needs. Employ a problem-based approach that includes developing detailed patient assessments, diagnostic plans, and appropriate treatment strategies based on test results. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting all patient interactions, findings, treatments, and diagnoses. Perform a range of surgical procedures, from routine to complex cases, including spays/neuters and mass removals. Conduct dental procedures, including detailed evaluations, radiographs, extractions, and advanced oral surgeries. Develop and implement treatment plans for hospitalized patients, ensuring seamless transitions to overnight care and effective communication with referral hospitals. Additional Responsibilities: Participate in daily rounds to enhance communication and patient care. Share knowledge with staff to elevate care standards and improve clinic operations. Complete any other duties as assigned. Supervision & Mentorship: Work under the guidance of the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director, with the autonomy to make patient care decisions while adhering to Petco's Veterinary SOPs. Collaborate with your team in a professional and supportive manner. Problem Solving Ability: Veterinary medicine is rooted in problem-solving. Successful candidates should exhibit strong diagnostic abilities to ensure timely and accurate patient care. Your presence will foster a well-trained, motivated team and contribute to a positive environment that enhances patient welfare and customer satisfaction. Supervisory Roles: While this position doesn't have direct supervisory duties, you will naturally lead as a key member of the hospital team. Qualifications: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited institution. Active veterinary license without contingencies. Current DEA license. Possession of a Controlled Substance License, if required, or ability to obtain one by the start date. USDA Category I accreditation (minimum) or completion within two months of hiring. Proficiency in anesthesia and routine surgical procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Empathetic approach and professionalism in high-pressure situations. Proficient in telephone and computer usage. A collaborative team player open to learning and adapting. Work Environment: Most duties will be conducted at the Vetco Total Care hospital, requiring physical capabilities such as bending, kneeling, and lifting (up to 30 pounds).
