JOB SUMMARY Join our dynamic team as an Automotive Paint Preparation Specialist, where you will play a vital role in preparing vehicles for a flawless finish. Your responsibilities will include assisting our skilled Paint Technicians, ensuring all vehicles are ready for refinishing with precision and care. You'll be instrumental in maintaining safety and cleanliness standards in our work environment. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborate with Paint Technicians to efficiently prepare vehicles and parts for painting using industry-best techniques and materials. Thoroughly clean vehicle surfaces by removing grease, dirt, paint, or rust to ensure optimal paint adhesion. Expertly apply masking paper and tape to shield non-painted surfaces, such as windows and trim, ensuring a clean finish. Support the Paint Technician with blending tasks as needed. Work alongside the paint team to ensure timely vehicle preparation for on-schedule delivery. Keep tools and equipment well-maintained and uphold a clean, organized workspace. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment as required. Ensure the cleanliness of prep areas, paint booths, and storage rooms, adhering to storage protocols for refinish products. Assist with general maintenance tasks in the paint booths as necessary. Help with the final reassembly of vehicles, including the replacement of moldings, trim, and detailing pieces. Utilize all mandated safety equipment and comply with OSHA and CARSTAR safety standards, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Participate actively in daily release meetings to discuss workflow and progress. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the team. EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS Previous experience in automotive painting and refinishing is required. Experience in paint preparation tasks such as sanding and masking is preferred. A High School diploma or GED is preferred; graduates from collision technology programs are encouraged to apply. I-CAR or ASE refinishing certification is a valuable asset. Familiarity with auto manufacturers' repair and refinishing standards is beneficial. Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively in a team environment. A valid driver's license with a clean and insurable driving record is essential. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Candidates should be able to: Stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, and pulling as required. Handle extended periods of kneeling, bending, and squatting. Lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs). Maintain mobility through standing, sitting, and walking. Perform repetitive motions with dexterity. Have visual acuity for precise color matching. WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential exposure to: Paint fumes and particles. Dirt and dust. Chemicals and toxins.
