This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing This posting can be filled as a Safety Specialist II - Safety Specialist Senior depending on qualifications.Job Summary/Purpose All members of Entergy's safety function will be expected to own safety, work to prevent incidents and seek to improve with the understanding that zero harm is possible. This position is tasked with examining the workplace/worksite for environmental or physical factors that could affect employee and/or contract partner health, safety, comfort, and performance. Ensuring the workplace/worksite is as safe as possible accomplished through conducting risk assessments, safety analyses, job site reviews, and coaching. The senior and lead safety specialists will be expected to show leadership and mentorship capabilities with Entergy's employees and contract partners. Supports Utility Operations in the management of developing safety trainingprograms/strategy/presentations/workshops/communications/policy/rules as needed. This is a field first role with the expectation that 80% of time is spent in the field engaged with the frontline workforce. Job Duties/Responsibilities Supports the contract workforce, including, but not limited to: Help investigate contractor incidents and safety related issues on Entergy's system, perform Field Observations to assure compliance of OSHA regulations and Entergy safety rules and procedures, assist and support contractors with acknowledging Entergy's safety rules and procedures. Conduct and assist with training as necessary to ensure applicable rules, procedures, and expectations are understood. Conduct engagements and observations with employees and contract partners providing immediate coaching on safe and unsafe conditions observed. Lead, and plan field and site engagements, document deficiencies, and develop sustainable solutions to prevent repeat findings. Assist in the incident investigation process including root cause analysis and identification of corrective actions. Set and reinforce safe work expectations in accordance with applicable laws, rules, procedures, and expectations. Review safety related data and metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions to address any issues identified. Stop work if there is any unsafe condition. Provide mentoring to other safety professionals. Must be familiar with and can interpret OSHA regulations and provide guidance to management on the proper application of these regulations in the workplace. Certificates/Security Clearances/Other Working knowledge of construction and general industry safety for electrical utility regulations. Ability to observe, coach and engage with employees and contract partners during all tasks associated with high/low voltage electrical construction, maintenance, and restoration. Investigation/RCA with tools such as TapRoot, Cause Mapping, Fishbone, Five whys, etc. Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends. Ability to interact with customers and members of the public in a pleasant and tactful manner. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of employees (Craft through Director/VP). Ability to influence and positively motivate a diverse and geographically dispersed work force dealing with a wide variety of safety and training issues. Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required. Radical candor, approachable and vocal. Questioning attitude. Strong understanding of cover up rules and PPE requirements with and a strong background in energized high voltage electrical construction. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Desired: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Safety, or equivalent work experience. Minimum Education: Safety Specialist III: Any level Degree Preferred Safety Specialist Senior: Bachelor's degree Preferred Minimum Experience: Safety Specialist III: 4-6 years electrical industry experience with a minimum of 2 year in safety Safety Specialist, Senior: 6-10 years electrical industry experience with a minimum of 3 year in safety Desired experience/qualifications: 7-10 years Electrical Distribution Line experience 7-10 years Electrical Transmission Line experience 7-10 years Electrical Substation experience 2-5 years Leadership experience Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities
