Your Impact As the Senior Director of Payroll Operations at Lowe's, you will play an essential role in leading our payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate payroll for over 300,000 associates. Your strategic leadership will enhance operational excellence, guarantee compliance with regulations, and deliver an outstanding experience for associates through innovative payroll systems. By collaborating with key stakeholders including Benefits, Tax, HR, Finance, and Legal, as well as technology teams managing Workday Payroll and UKG, you will drive process improvements and manage key initiatives that enhance our payroll operations while fostering strong vendor relationships. What You Will Do Craft and implement a comprehensive payroll strategy aimed at accuracy and compliance while promoting continuous improvement. Lead and inspire high-performing payroll teams, enhancing accountability and aligning with Lowe's objectives. Ensure robust governance of payroll operations, emphasizing reliability and a positive associate experience. Oversee all aspects of payroll processing to guarantee accuracy in line with applicable regulations. Manage payroll administration from wages, taxes, deductions, to garnishments. Oversee complex payroll processes, ensuring precision in handling severance payments and irregular compensations. Address escalated payroll concerns promptly while implementing measures to prevent recurrences. Develop and monitor payroll metrics and KPIs to assess effectiveness and efficiency. Partner with Finance and Accounting for accurate payroll accounting and reconciliation. Coordinate with technology teams for payroll-related configuration, testing, and system integrations. Maintain compliance with payroll laws and regulations, managing tax reporting and operational controls. Collaborate with Legal, Tax, and HR Compliance departments to adapt to regulatory updates and policy changes. Build strategic partnerships with vendors and third-party providers to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Conduct audits, reconciliations, and reporting for compliance and accountability verification. Lead initiatives for process enhancements, leveraging vendor solutions and internal resources. Continuously evaluate vendor performance, balancing costs with quality to optimize value. Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, and Tax to incorporate payroll processes into the enterprise framework. Provide payroll insights during projects, reorganizations, or system implementations. Mentor and develop payroll leaders, ensuring robust talent development and succession planning. Facilitate training programs to boost payroll knowledge and compliance awareness within the team. Foster a culture of accountability and service excellence across payroll teams. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, or a relevant field with over 10 years of experience in payroll operations within a large, multi-state environment. 10+ years ensuring compliance with various wage, tax, and labor laws. 10+ years managing payroll governance, controls, audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks like SOX. 7+ years leading and developing payroll teams, including offshore management experience. 7+ years working with enterprise payroll systems (Workday Payroll, UKG, or comparable), including system testing and configuration. 5-7 years successfully leading payroll process improvements and technological innovations. 5-7 years managing vendor relationships, ensuring quality service and accountability.
