If you are passionate about shaping your future, consider joining our team. KPMG is seeking an Audit Associate to contribute to our Audit and Assurance team. Responsibilities: Collaborate with a team to conduct financial statement audits and support capital markets by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of client financial information, while upholding the principles of objectivity and independence; gain insights into client-specific risks by reviewing financial results and current business trends, particularly for Japanese clients or non-Japanese companies requiring strategic assistance in Japan. Learn to create clear and structured audit documentation detailing our understanding of clients' processes and IT systems, including transaction flows and risk point identification. With guidance, perform and document testing of client controls and financial statement account balances, identifying potential misstatements and control deficiencies, and escalating matters as needed. Enhance audit quality by undertaking assigned tasks and maintaining professional interactions with clients and the engagement team; embrace enabling technologies in audits, such as risk assessment and data analysis. Identify process improvements and audit efficiencies as part of KPMG’s culture of continuous improvement; assist in project management activities by tracking deliverables and coordinating action items. Utilize Data and Analytics (D&A) in audits, employing technologies and data analysis tools such as AI, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, and Power BI; aid in documentation preparation. Qualifications: Must be pursuing or have recently completed (within the last 12 months) a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution. Must be working towards the state-specific education requirements for becoming a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above. Bilingual in English and Japanese, with professional proficiency in both languages. Coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data analytics is preferred; familiarity with data analysis tools like Alteryx or Power BI is a plus. Strong foundation in technical accounting, financial reporting standards, and general accounting principles. Demonstrates strong technical aptitude, critical thinking, and research skills, along with proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel. Excellent communication, time management, and relationship-building skills; able to exercise sound professional judgment and skepticism; agile and adaptable team player; leadership experience is beneficial. Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to the office and be able to travel to work locations using personal transportation. Audit professionals are expected to work in-person at a KPMG office or client site for an average of three days per week; some travel and overnight stays may be necessary.
