General Summary: Mason Public Schools is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as the Harvey Education Center Principal. The successful candidate will provide positive leadership to ensure student achievement and staff development while also ensuring a safe and effective educational atmosphere. Candidates must be focused on the development of people, be collaborative, be creative, be critical thinkers and problem solvers focused on leading the Harvey Education Center forward. Required Qualifications: Must meet Michigan Child Care Licensing Program Director credential/qualification requirements within 12 months of hire: Must possess a School Administrator Certification or obtain the certificate within the prescribed timeline: 5 years of teaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional leadership, including knowledge in the use of formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction, data monitoring, instructional methods, and development of interventions. Demonstrated record of building high functioning teams and productive partnerships. Record of knowledge and experience with school improvement planning. Demonstrated knowledge in the use of technology to support instruction and enhance student achievement. Ability to work effectively with colleagues, district administrators, and staff. Demonstrated record of productive engagement of students, staff, parents, and community, to develop the most effective environment and culture for learning. Experience or knowledge of integration of literacy across all aspects of the curriculum. Willingness to learn new skills, to be reflective, and to acquire new knowledge along with evidence of being flexible and having superior problem-solving skills. The experience and ability to develop a fair and consistent behavior management system (PBIS). Evidence of being highly organized, possessing superior oral and written communication skills, and having excellent time-management skills. Demonstrated commitment to leading curricular programs and instructional strategies. Strong understanding of Multi-Tiered-Systems-of Support (MTSS). Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain high standards for student and staff accountability. Proven ability to solve problems and provide conflict resolution. Excellent technology application skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in early childhood education. Work experience in early childhood education. Experience in budget management. Possession of a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate. Teaching experience at the preschool or early elementary level. Two or more years of successful Administrator experience. Strong background in early literacy, with experience with innovative literacy instructional practices. Experience and/or professional development related to district initiatives, including: INTO MATH, Wonders, Professional Learning Communities, Skyward, AIMSweb, and Renaissance DNA. Master's degree in educational leadership or related academic field. Substantial experience in leadership roles. 3 years of recent experience working with preschool age children. Early Childhood Teaching Certificate (ZA or ZS). CDA in Child Development. Current certification in infant, child, and adult CPR and First Aid Demonstrated ability to manage, schedule, and hire staff. Experience managing licensure of early childhood programs/facilities. Experience with grant funded programs (Preschool For All). Experience with blending Early Childhood Special Education, GSRP, and Tuition based programs. Job Description: Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities, lead and supervise delivery of curriculum. Provide effective instructional leadership to staff. Work with colleagues regarding curriculum, assessment, and instruction. Evaluate and support educator effectiveness. Plan, direct, and coordinate the work of staff and volunteers. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning community within the assigned building. Provide availability to students, staff, and parents for education-related purposes during and outside the instructional day. Manage the building and program budgets. Lead and supervise the implementation of research based instructional strategies, including students with special needs. Monitor and assess the performance of the school, age/grade levels, and teachers through data analysis. Align resources with district and building goals and priorities. Communicate and engage with parents and the Mason community. Supervision of students, staff, and day-to-day operations of Child Development Services and Kindergarten classrooms. Recruit, screen, interview and recommend staff for hire when position openings exist. Oversee the advertisement and promotion of all Child Development Services' programs, Kindergarten Transition Night, and Kindergarten Round-Up. Shall use child development theories to provide successful academic experiences for all children. Analyze student data and work with Child Development staff to maximize student achievement and student transition to kindergarten. Identify, plan, and implement in-depth and ongoing site-specific professional development and conduct meaningful staff meetings throughout the year. Shall be responsible for providing an effective mechanism for parent and staff communication and for providing a safe and caring environment for all children. Must follow all childcare license rules and regulations, grant funded program rules and regulations, Board policies, administrative regulations, operational procedures, and labor agreements. Serve as a participating member of the elementary principal's group and the district's leadership team. Shall keep abreast of current changes and developments in the education profession as they relate to early childhood education. Will keep the Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services informed of the activities of Child Development Services and Kindergarten programs. Shall complete other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Physical Requirements & Work Environment: This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking. The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of furnishings or equipment. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or office locations. SALARY: 2026-2027 contract year salary range: $104,339 - $119,301. Additional $2,500 annually for possession of an Education Specialist or Doctorate degree. Work Schedule: 220 days, inclusive of ten paid holidays Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Long Term Disability Insurance, Retirement, Paid Sick and Personal Days.
