Toeroek Associates, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Scientist to provide technical support for all phases of Targeted Brownfields Assessments in the western half of the U.S. The successful candidate will assist senior staff in performing Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, supporting a team that assesses the nature and the extent of contamination at brownfields and identifies potential cleanup alternatives and associated costs for site redevelopment.Periodic travel is required. Worksite locations are in Seattle, Idaho, Dallas/Central Texas, and Chicago or Central Illinois. This position is considered remote, but candidates must be geographically located near these areas to support operations and facilitate fieldwork.Duties include Conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)Collecting and evaluating environmental data in field and office settingsLeading field activities, including soil, groundwater, sediment, and soil gas sample collection; geological logging and interpretation; and oversight of investigation and remediation subcontractors, including laboratories and excavation and drilling companiesSupport providing soil and groundwater assessments, soil gas sampling, asbestos inspections, lead-based paint assessments, geophysical surveys, and waste determinationsPreparing technical reports and other documents on topics associated with site characterization, remedial optimization, and remedy implementationRecognizing technical discrepancies in analytical results and making appropriate corrections following standard proceduresProviding support in organizing public meetings to address the findings of ESAsWork within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignmentsPeriodic travel is required Required Education/ExperienceBS degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field, 4 plus years of practical experience related to contaminated site characterization and remediation at contaminated sites, including Superfund, Brownfields, and RCRA Corrective Action sites. Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations under Federal (e.g., Superfund, RCRA, Brownfields), state, or other cleanup programs. Experience with Phase I and Phase II ESAs and experience conducting quantitative analyses using Microsoft ExcelPREFERRED CREDENTIALS/CERTIFICATIONS: 40-Hour HAZWOPEREPA Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor PROFESSIONAL SKILLS: Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes the initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentalityEffective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience writing and compiling technical data and reportsAbility to multitask, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervisionStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once The anticipated hiring salary range for this remote position is $ 56,000 to $80,000, DOQ. Pay consideration is given based on geographic location, relevant work experience, and education.
