Job Title: Network Engineer Location: Albany, NY Pay: $66.66 per hour Duration: 10 Months Coverage Area: Albany/Troy/Rensselaer NY areas Work Hours: Standard work week with on-call incident response On Call: Yes, 4-week rotation Extension: Possible Contract to Hire: Yes Travel: Possibly to Tarrytown, NY; very little, maybe 2-3 times a month, if at all. It would be an exception. Job Description: Typical role involving Cisco IOS stack, CCNA preferred/CCNP a plus. Familiarity with ITIL and ITOM. Responsible for resolving tickets and leading network-related projects. Handles incident response (on call), WiFi, SD-WAN, LAN/SDN, VPN, etc. Designs, implements, maintains, and supports the network infrastructure. Maximizes network operations by monitoring performance, troubleshooting problems and outages, and scheduling maintenance and periodic upgrades. Ensures network scalability, configuration to meet business objectives, and 24x7 availability. Configures network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, etc.). At higher levels, envisions, defines, and leads in the development of industry-leading technologies, systems, and network infrastructure. Critical focus areas include video, voice, data, automation, and security. Key Responsibilities: Plays a lead role in providing global Network Engineering support. Configures and installs complex network devices, infrastructure, and systems. Ensures the ongoing performance of network maintenance and systems upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. Monitors network security and risk metrics, tracks issues and exceptions to risk policies and standards, and liaises with Cybersecurity team members - suggesting process improvements and ensuring compliance with company security protocols and guidelines. Analyzes current network configuration, performance metrics, and business needs, recommending future infrastructure improvements. Works to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to network infrastructure. Key Qualifications: BA/BS degree and 6-8 years' relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
