Job Description

Jacobs is committed to enhancing the world through transformative water and wastewater projects. We are seeking a skilled Design-Build Preconstruction Manager to lead intricate projects in water, wastewater, environmental, heavy civil, and military/government sectors. In this role, you will review proposals and conceptual designs, thoroughly analyze detailed design documents, participate in design development meetings, and conduct site visits to precisely outline the project scope and budget. Mentorship and collaboration with a dedicated team of professionals will be central to your success as you prepare detailed estimates, create project work breakdown structures, and develop statements of work for subcontractors and vendors. Your knowledge will be critical in applying construction methodologies, preparing schedules, and estimating both direct and indirect costs. Close collaboration with design teams is key to guaranteeing the accuracy of design-build construction estimates. This position will challenge both your creative and analytical abilities as you craft insightful reports and presentations based on historical data analysis. We are looking for individuals with a strong attention to detail, extensive construction experience, and a genuine passion for tackling complex water and wastewater initiatives as part of a team. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required, along with substantial industry experience. A solid background in water and wastewater construction, including field experience, is essential. Proficiency in modern communication technologies, estimating, scheduling, and database management is crucial. Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam, Timberline, Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, and SQL-based databases is highly beneficial. A comprehensive understanding of estimating processes—including quantity takeoff, crew development, material quotes, and risk modeling—is a must. Experience with quantitative risk analysis software is required. Familiarity with Deltek Acumen, Timberline, and HCSS Heavy Bid is preferred, alongside knowledge of project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 and Smartsheet. You will also play a crucial role in mentoring junior staff and supporting their professional development. Willingness to travel as needed based on project requirements is important, although travel frequency is typically low. Preferred Qualifications: Outstanding written, oral, and presentation skills are essential, particularly for client-facing situations involving complex topics. Strong interpersonal skills for effective relationship building and conflict resolution are necessary. The ability to work independently is crucial, as you will have clearly defined responsibilities and the autonomy to navigate your success. Physical requirements include the ability to perform various movements, adapt to environmental conditions typical in the water and wastewater design-build field, and operate safely in environments with active machinery. This role is situated in a dynamic work environment and offers the chance to make a significant impact on essential projects that benefit communities. We encourage you to apply today!
