Jacobs is seeking a visionary and highly skilled Architectural Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the transformative design and strategic evolution of our global data center portfolio. This role combines deep architectural expertise with business leadership, allowing the selected candidate to inspire innovation and drive excellence in mission-critical environments. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Innovation Provide internal technical leadership across architectural disciplines, ensuring design excellence and successful project delivery. Develop and implement design strategies for clients in the hyperscaler colocation market through upfront planning. Champion innovative approaches in modular design, sustainability, and integrated building systems. Establish and uphold Jacobs' architectural standards, specifications, and design guidelines. Guarantee compliance with applicable codes, accessibility standards, and environmental regulations. Strategic Impact & Business Development Act as the external representative of Jacobs' architectural expertise in client interactions, industry events, and strategic initiatives. Collaborate with sales teams to acquire complex and high-value data center projects. Engage in sales calls, client workshops, and proposal development to craft winning strategies. Influence business strategy through innovative design, technical differentiation, and excellence in delivery. Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing Mentor and coach architects and designers within the data center practice. Contribute to Jacobs' thought leadership initiatives by publishing technical articles. Represent Jacobs at industry conferences and professional associations. Execution & Multi-Tasking Effectively manage multiple priorities by balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on project execution. Oversee site planning, building layout, and integration of architectural systems with MEP and structural disciplines. Support construction administration, design reviews, and quality assurance for global projects. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture. 20+ years of architectural design experience, including 15+ years in mission-critical/data center environments. Licensed Architect (RA) with a robust understanding of building codes, ADA regulations, and sustainability frameworks. Demonstrated expertise in site planning, envelope design, modular construction, and BIM coordination. A solid record of delivering technical innovation to solve client challenges. Exceptional communication, leadership, and multitasking capabilities. Preferred Experience Experience working with hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center clients. Engagement in LEED, WELL, or other sustainability certifications. Familiarity with high-security and high-resiliency design principles. Experience in vendor coordination and construction-phase support. Work Environment Mainly office-based, with occasional travel to data center sites and client locations. Travel may be required up to 25%, depending on project and business needs. Availability for on-call support for critical design or client requirements.
