Overview What You'll Be Doing Cadmus is on the hunt for an experienced consultant to join our Planning and Assessment Team. As a mid-level consultant specializing in U.S. energy industry potential studies and demand-side management resource planning, you will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of energy companies, utilities, government bodies, and non-profits. We are looking for motivated, innovative thinkers who relish tackling technical challenges and have a robust background in conducting potential studies for North American utilities, preferably in a consulting context. The ideal candidate will help drive demand-side management resource potential studies, delivering actionable insights that clients can use to make informed decisions for both short-term programs and long-term planning. You will support projects from inception to completion, which involves quantitative analysis, collaboration with project teams, and contribution to written reports and presentations. Responsibilities The selected candidate will support the characterization of energy efficiency and demand response impacts on a per-building basis. Responsibilities will include coordinating meetings with clean-energy stakeholders, drafting research findings, developing innovative solutions to clean energy challenges, conducting secondary research on emerging technologies, and presenting your work to various audiences. As a planning and assessment consultant, you will: Conduct research and analysis related to demand-side potential assessments and integrated resource planning across various technologies such as energy efficiency, building electrification, demand response, electric vehicles, solar, battery storage, and more. Contribute to data analytics and modeling efforts. Build or utilize models to assess demand-side management potentials and integrated resource planning. Synthesize research findings and analysis outcomes to provide actionable insights aligned with client objectives. Develop comprehensive reports and presentations that clearly articulate findings, methodologies, and recommendations. Lead project tasks, including budget tracking, task planning, and team collaboration. Maintain professional communication with project managers, team members, and clients to achieve project goals and coordinate with support teams regarding task status. Account for task quality, completion, and budgets, ensuring all deliverables meet Cadmus standards and surpass client expectations. Support business development efforts, including proposal writing. Foster and build existing client relationships as a task lead. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as mechanical or environmental engineering, economics, statistics, mathematics, environmental studies, or a related quantitative social science. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing or leading research or planning projects utilizing qualitative and quantitative techniques. Understanding of the technical and analytical processes necessary to estimate demand-side management potential. Direct experience with utility demand-side management studies, energy efficiency program planning, and resource planning. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Solid grasp of energy efficiency, demand response, solar, battery storage, electrification, and distributed energy resource potential. Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation. Experience with task planning and budget monitoring. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences. Experience in presenting research findings through reports, client presentations, or analytical models. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a relevant area of study such as mechanical or environmental engineering, economics, statistics, mathematics, environmental studies, or other quantitative social science. Experience managing, evaluating, or modeling demand response programs. Consulting experience with a focus on independent decision-making. Experience in staff management and development. Familiarity with business development practices. Intermediate to advanced skills in R and/or Python. Analytical experience in program planning, policy analysis, market research, advanced analytics and modeling, engineering, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation. The minimum starting salary for this position is $80,000, with actual salary commensurate with relevant experience, education, skills, and market factors.
