Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. seeks a Full-time (40 hours/week) Family Peer Advocate who can provide structured, strength - based peer support to families raising children with social, emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges.Job Responsibilities: Using the Family Support Model provides one-to-one interactions with parents/caregivers with the goal of encouraging and promoting family independence and self-efficacy.Provide family peer support services to care givers within MHOTRS and Trauma and Resiliency Service programs through face to face, telephone, email and telehealth meetings with the family.Support families in advocacy and shared decision making across child serving systems.Assist the family in identifying parenting skills which could be strengthened and provide role modeling of these services. Assist with engagement, bridging, and transitions between services.Assist family in identifying needs, determining available community and natural resources and advocating for those services.Assists family in identifying strengths upon which to build a foundation of improved communication and coping skills.Attend Families Together Family Support Meetings at the Office or Mental Health or virtually.Use electronic health record to complete documentation requirements in a timely manner.Complete family assessment tools and surveys as required.Represent Cayuga Counseling Services at community, state and national forums as assigned. Advocate for systems change at the program, community, state, and national level.Build relationships with parent support and advocacy organizations.Assist in the facilitation of the parent and/or grandparent support group. Complete Bi-annual required training and documentation of NYS Family Peer Advocate credentialing.Follows Medicaid rules and regulations for billing.Follows HIPPA regulations and acquire appropriate releases of information.Preforms other duties as required. Qualifications: New York State Families Together Family Peer Advocate Credentialing/FANS training required.High School diploma or equivalentClearance through the NYS Central Registry for Child Abuse is required.Must have a valid NYS driver's license and insurance.Must be a parent. Lived experience parenting a child (including a foster) who has/had a severe emotional, behavioral, developmental delays or mental health disorder required. Ability to recognize strengths in families and children.Must have ability to relate to children, adolescents, and parents, and be able to develop/foster appropriate relationships.Must have extensive knowledge of community services and the ability to work cooperatively with other providers: must have ability to document activities accurately.
