BETA Fueling Systems, headquartered in Reidsville, NC, has delivered reliable fuel handling solutions for over 50 years. We manufacture aviation ground support equipment, systems for cryogenic transportation equipment, and helicopter refueling systems for shipboard applications. We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to support automated cryogenic delivery systems for liquid nitrogen (LIN), liquid oxygen (LOX), liquid argon (LAR), and liquid carbon dioxide (LCO2). This role focuses on training installation partners (specialized tanker builders and refurbishment companies), troubleshooting complex automation systems, supervising component replacements, conducting precision meter proving, and managing parts ordering. When not engaged in field service activities, the technician will be cross trained on BETA's aviation refueling products at our Reidsville, NC facility. Note: This position does not involve hands-on installation or repair of wetted cryogenic components. The technician trains and supervises authorized installation partners who perform actual installation work under BETA guidance. Primary Responsibilities Train tanker builders and refurbishment companies on proper installation procedures for automated cryogenic systems, ensuring compliance with BETA specifications Troubleshoot and diagnose complex malfunctions in automation controllers, pneumatic circuits, hydraulic systems, instrumentation networks, and measurement equipment Supervise installation partners during component replacements, verifying proper procedures, safety compliance, and quality standards Conduct precision meter proving using master meter technology for custody transfer applications, maintaining metrological compliance (MID, OIML, NTEP standards) Manage parts ordering and inventory for replacement components, coordinating with suppliers and ensuring timely delivery to field locations Commission and verify newly installed systems through comprehensive functional testing, parameter configuration, and acceptance procedures Create detailed service reports, maintain calibration records, and update system documentation including as-built drawings Train end-user customer personnel on system operation, safety procedures, and basic troubleshooting Participate in assembly and testing of BETA aviation refueling products during periods between field service assignments Provide technical feedback to engineering team regarding field issues, product improvements, and customer requirements Requirements Knowledge & Abilities: Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Instrumentation, Process Control, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field 3-5 years hands-on experience with industrial automation, process instrumentation, or control systems Demonstrated troubleshooting ability and experience training or mentoring others Valid driver's license and ability to travel nationally and internationally 60-80% of time Physical ability to climb tank trucks - bend, lift and stoop; work at heights, and lift equipment up to 50 pounds independently Technical Skills: Instrumentation: Proficiency with pressure transmitters, temperature sensors (RTD/thermocouple), flow measurement devices, and custody transfer applications Pneumatics: Strong understanding of pneumatic control circuits, pressure regulation, control valves, actuators, and ability to read P&IDs Electrical/Controls: Electrical troubleshooting, 4-20mA signals, digital I/O, PLCs or automation controllers, industrial communication protocols, VFD experience beneficial Hydraulics: Working knowledge of hydraulic pumps, cylinders, control valves, and pressure systems Safety: Understanding of cryogenic hazards, PPE requirements, LOTO procedures, and hazardous area classifications Professional Attributes: Exceptional problem-solving and systematic troubleshooting methodology Strong communication and teaching abilities for diverse technical audiences Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of independent work in remote locations Preferred Qualifications: ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) or similar certification Experience with cryogenic systems, industrial gases, or custody transfer measurement Background in field service, metrology, or mobile equipment operations Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) and technical documentation skills BETA Offers: Competitive salary with comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k with match) Laptop, cell phone, and diagnostic equipment provided All travel expenses covered (lodging, meals, airfare) Comprehensive training on BETA systems and professional development support Opportunity to work with advanced automation technology in specialized applications Diverse role combining field service, partner training, and manufacturing experience BETA Fueling Systems, LLC. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran status, or disability status.
