Salary: $28.38 - $36.80 Hourly Location : Eagan Civic Arena Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 01092026 Department: Parks and Recreation Division: Civic Arena Opening Date: 01/09/2026 FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Description Maintenance Technician - Aquatics & Arena Pay: $28.384 - $36.803 per hour, DOQ Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Benefit Eligible, Non-Union Position Join the City of Eagan as a Maintenance Technician for our Aquatics & Arena facilities! The City of Eagan is on the lookout for a dedicated Maintenance Technician to keep our spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. You'll use top-notch equipment for cleaning and maintenance tasks at the Civic Arena and Cascade Bay Waterpark. Work Hours This a 40-hour per week position, primary schedule is nights and weekends from 2pm - 10pm (flexibility to days of week). Work hours may vary based on the seasonal work priorities, including daytime, evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays at different times of the calendar year. Position Overview: Develops, implements, performs, and schedules all maintenance and custodial duties associated with the Aquatic park and Civic Arena. Application Deadline: Open until filled Essential Position FunctionsDevelops and implements the preventative maintenance program for pool equipment, water play features, buildings, and pool surfaces for the Aquatic Facility; performs repairs as appropriate. Responsible for startup and season end closing of the Aquatic Facility equipment. Performs maintenance on the Aquatic Facility filtration pumps, motors, and chemical systems to ensure proper operation and water quality of the pools. Maintain proper pool chemistry to ensure Ph. and chlorine levels are kept at Minnesota state standards. Responsible for the custodial functions of the Aquatic Facility and Civic Arena including locker rooms, restrooms, mechanical rooms, and grounds. Provides light duty repair or upkeep of doors, plumbing fixtures, and maintenance equipment. Provides work direction to seasonal Aquatic Facility and Civic Arena maintenance staff. Perform Civic Arena building and equipment repairs on refrigeration, desiccant dehumidifier, hot water heaters, and all pumps. Operates an electric ice resurfacer and maintains ice surface and ice equipment. Responsible for assisting in janitorial functions at the civic arena and aquatic facility. Responsible in the installation and removal of ice sheets and indoor turf at the Civic Arena. Provides work training and direction to part-time Arena and pool employees - including ice resurfacer drivers and maintenance staff. Contributes to an effective work climate for employee motivation and productivity through positive reinforcement, recognition, team building, and job enrichment. Operates and maintain equipment washing machines, skate sharpeners, and cleaning equipment. Keeps Supervisors informed of daily work accomplishments, problems, new developments, and status of operations. Requisitions supplies, materials, and services for the Aquatic Facility's and Civic Arena's operations. Performs other functions as assigned. Develops and maintains facility work plans to prioritize short-term and long-term maintenance projects based on available resources. Minimum QualificationsValid driver's license. Certified pool operator and/or aquatic facilities operator within 6 months of employment. Demonstrate ability to work with mechanical functions. Class "C" Boilers license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. 2 years of experience in building repair and maintenance. Things that may help you be successful in this roleCertificate in HVAC. Experience in swimming pool filtration equipment, chemical systems, and pump systems functions. Two years of experience in arena and pool maintenance. Knowledge of: Maintaing a commercial facility setting or local government facility. Operation of various pumps, motors, HVAC, plumbing, Geothermal and cleaning systems and procedures. Minnesota OSHA requirements. Skills in: Working effectively with the public and fellow employees. General maintenance including plumbing, doors and hardware. Repairing and maintaining water slides. Painting and finishing. Ability to: Work independently on maintenance projects and repairs. Work with mechanical functions. Indirect Supervision: Provide work directions to seasonal and part-time employees. Physical Requirements: The employee is occasionally required to climb a ladder, operate a lift, use small hand tools, and operate a vehicle with multiple hand and feet operations. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and peripheral vision Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds. Operate and work with personal lifts up to 45 feet high. Working Conditions: Civic Arena - 60% Aquatic Facility - 40% Indoor & outdoor working conditions in which temperatures could reach 100 degrees F with high humidity in the summer, and - 30 degrees F in the winter. This position could be required to work outdoors in rain, snow, sleet and high winds. This position will have established work hours based on the seasonal work priorities, including evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays at different times of the calendar year. Typically, work hours are scheduled during evenings, weekends, and some week days (no overnight shifts). This is a 40 hour per week position, overtime eligible.
