Job Description We are looking for a Shop Leader to join our team at our Decatur location. In this unique position, you will be the sole operator of the shop, responsible for managing inventory, paperwork, procurement, scheduling, and performing mechanical work on the region's fleet. This is a hands-on role that requires proficiency in both computer tasks and heavy equipment maintenance. If you love staying active and being technically involved, this position is perfect for you! Duties/Responsibilities: Offer exceptional customer service during maintenance operations. Handle administrative tasks related to vehicle repairs, including cost estimates and scheduling maintenance notifications for managers and employees. Reconcile operating accounts and maintain accurate records. Create and maintain operational reports as requested. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies and tools as needed. Schedule necessary maintenance for the shop and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Maintain open communication with all relevant parties. Oversee licenses and permits in coordination with the Asset Manager. Design and update equipment and spray systems according to specifications. Prioritize urgent projects that require immediate attention. Evaluate vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn or damaged components. Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment operational. Assist in the fabrication of new equipment and builds. Resolve vehicle issues by performing repairs, adjustments, and replacements as necessary. Conduct machine shop operations, including adjustments and alignments. Test vehicle performance through driving and system adjustments. Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle regulations through testing. Respond to field visits for emergencies or breakdowns. Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for at least 5 years. Minimum of 5 years of mechanic experience. CDL is highly preferred. Experience in a leadership role. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Able to prepare operational reports and reconcile sales records. Extensive knowledge of automobile repair with the ability to interpret technical manuals. Physical Requirements: Exposure to gasoline vapors and other automotive fluids. Able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Physical stamina for standing, walking, bending, and stretching during repairs. Proficiency in handling tools necessary for automotive repair.
