Job Description Join the innovative Data Center Build Engineer Team at Oracle, where we design and construct cutting-edge physical data center infrastructure to support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure globally. As a Senior Data Center Network Engineer, you will leverage your extensive expertise in Layer 1 networking, data center facilities, structured cabling solutions, and vendor management to contribute to the success of our cloud operations. This role involves close collaboration with the data center development team and Oracle's vendors, focusing on the continuous improvement of our cloud infrastructure operations. You will travel up to 50% within the Mid-West and East Coast Regions. Responsibilities As part of your role, you will: Coordinate and support the implementation of new and existing Oracle data centers. Manage onsite vendor relations to ensure successful infrastructure build out. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to cabling and building standards. Review Bills of Materials to define project scope effectively. Draft project scope documents for vendor quoting. Engage in the vendor bidding and selection process. Design and implement innovative structured cabling solutions for new data center builds and expansions. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes. Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes. Collaborate with the Program Management team to meet project deliverables and ensure a positive customer experience. Engage with key project stakeholders effectively. Participate in vendor quarterly business reviews to improve performance. Troubleshoot connectivity issues within the cabling infrastructure. Contribute to the development of global data center cabling and infrastructure standards. Desired Skills Ideal candidates will possess: Experience in designing and deploying comprehensive data center cabling systems. Familiarity with TIA Data Center Cabling Standards. Proficiency in cabling infrastructure best practices. Knowledge of network cabling, including fiber optic types and transceivers. Ability to install and troubleshoot bulk fiber optic systems. Experience in planning and managing all aspects of data center infrastructure. A broad understanding of infrastructure technologies. A proven track record of effective vendor management across multiple locations. Experience with testing equipment, such as VFL and OTDR. Thorough knowledge of Cat 5, Cat 6, and OM1 - OS2 fiber optic systems. Insight into critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure in data centers. Experience in developing RFI/RFQ/RFPs for vendor quotations. Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools and protocols. Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, and Firewalls. Knowledge of common Networking Protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
