Job Responsibilities As the lead agency for regulating our state's consumer finance and mortgage industries, Board of Financial Institutions is committed to serving the citizens of South Carolina while promoting the growth, innovation and fiscal stability of the financial institutions operating in our local communities. Our team enjoys using their financial expertise to ensure these companies are adhering to state laws while also working to keep the public safe from exploitation by institutions with improper or unlawful practices. The Board of Financial Institutions - Consumer Finance is seeking an inquisitive and detail-oriented licensing specialist who is passionate about our mission and providing expertise in the areas of license review and customer service. Process and analyze license applications for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Review licensees for compliance with renewal requirements. Manage data within national and in-house databases, spreadsheets, and reports, as necessary. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with applicants, licensees, and consumers. Other duties as required. Minimum and Additional Requirements An associate degree and experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation/analysis. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the work experience. An equivalent combination of education experience as approved by Division of Human resources (DSHR). Preferred Qualifications Prefer knowledge and experience with laws and regulations pertaining to the lending/servicing industry. Ability to review and assess lending applications. Ability to understand and explain laws, policies, and procedures both verbally and in writing. Ability to utilize computer-based processing systems to analyze data. Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office programs such as Word & Excel. Additional Comments Will work under moderate supervision of Audits Manager. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Must be organized and able to work with little or no supervision at times. Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
