We are on the lookout for a seasoned Lead Applied Data/Computational Scientist to play a crucial role within our Cloud Engineering team, collaborating with strategic customers. In this vital position, you will work closely with applied scientists and product managers to design, develop, and deploy customized Gen-AI solutions, specifically focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs), Agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) using extensive OpenSearch clusters. You will lead the effort in identifying, designing, and implementing AI solutions tailored for GPU IaaS or PaaS environments. Qualifications and Experience: Doctoral or master's degree in computer science or a related technical field, coupled with 10+ years of relevant experience. Exceptional communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts through proposals, design specifications, architecture diagrams, and presentations. Demonstrated expertise in designing and deploying scalable AI models and solutions for production, with a strong background as an end-to-end solutions engineer or architect, integrating data engineering, data science, and machine learning engineering, while fostering collaboration with product management and development teams. Familiarity with OpenSearch, Vector databases, PostgreSQL, and Kafka Streaming. Hands-on experience in setting up and optimizing large OpenSearch clusters and data ingestion pipelines. Knowledge of search algorithms, including indexing and optimizing latency and response times. Experience with current technologies in LLM and generative AI, particularly in parameter-efficient fine-tuning, instruction fine-tuning, and advanced prompt engineering techniques such as Tree-of-Thoughts. Understanding of Agents and Agent frameworks as well as Model Context Protocol (MCP). Hands-on experience with modern LLM frameworks and plugins, including LangChain, LlamaIndex, VectorStores and Retrievers, LLM Cache, LLMOps (MLFlow), and Guidance. Strong publication record as a lead author or reviewer in reputable journals or conferences. Passionate about mentoring and developing junior machine learning engineers. Proficiency in Python and shell scripting tools. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in RAG-based solution architecture, and familiarity with OpenSearch and vector stores as knowledge repositories. Knowledge of LLM and experience deploying Generative AI & Agent models is highly valued. Exposure to the latest advancements in computer vision and multimodal modeling is a plus. Experience with semantic search, multi-modal search, and conversational search. Experience in public cloud environments with a solid grasp of IaaS/PaaS services and competitive capabilities. Familiarity with model training and serving frameworks such as KServe, KubeFlow, and Triton is preferred. Experience in LLM fine-tuning, especially with state-of-the-art parameter-efficient fine-tuning and multi-task serving technologies. In-depth knowledge of machine learning and deep learning architectures, especially Transformers, training methods, and optimizers. Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow) and architectures, particularly Transformers. Skills in diagnosing, addressing, and resolving AI model training and serving issues. Responsibilities: As a key member of the OCI Gen AI Cloud Engineering team, your major responsibility will be to develop innovative Gen AI and data services tailored for our strategic customers. You will spearhead the creation of advanced Gen AI solutions, integrating state-of-the-art machine learning technologies alongside Oracle's cloud capabilities. Your contributions will have a substantial impact across various sectors including financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, and code generation by delivering distributed, scalable, high-performance solutions to meet customer needs. Engage directly with key customers, guiding them through their Gen AI journey-understanding their requirements, helping them envision and design suitable solutions, and collaborating with their ML engineering teams to overcome challenges. Deep dive into model architectures to enhance performance and scalability. Develop cutting-edge solutions using emerging technologies within this rapidly evolving field. Configure large-scale OpenSearch clusters, establishing ingestion pipelines for seamless data integration. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues during AI model training and serving, with additional responsibilities as required. Create reusable solution patterns and reference architectures for application across multiple clients. Serve as a product evangelist-actively engage with customers and partners, and represent Oracle at external events and conferences. Compensation and Benefits: The hiring range for this role is between $113,100 and $185,100 per annum, with eligibility for equity and a commission structure estimated at a pay mix of 70/30.
