Your Impact As a Specialist in our Oil and Gas Practice, specifically in the Petroleum Asset eXcellence (PAX) team, you will help transform the performance of upstream and downstream petroleum assets. Your expertise will assist clients in unlocking their full potential through our combination of technical and management consulting, leveraging McKinsey's extensive global experience and proprietary tools. You will be an integral part of client projects focused on oil and gas operations, transformation, and improvement programs. Your analytical skills will support teams by developing and applying our proprietary oil and gas models. Close collaboration with client executives and other McKinsey colleagues will enable you to develop actionable recommendations and drive implementation and change. Additionally, you will engage in client development, conducting meetings and workshops, writing proposals for new engagements, and participating in key internal knowledge-building initiatives and client workshops. Your contributions will help shape the future of the oil and gas industry through operational excellence and innovative solutions. Your qualifications and skills Undergraduate degree in engineering or a related discipline; preference for petroleum, reservoir, or geology engineering focus; advanced graduate degree (e.g., MBA, masters) preferred. 4+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry focused on upstream operations, reservoir engineering, production engineering, or drilling and completions. Strong career progression with a track record of outstanding performance. Proven experience in successfully leading change management and operational improvement projects. Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to initiate and complete tasks independently. Proficient in rational decision-making based on data, facts, and logical reasoning. Capable of creating materials such as PowerPoint decks, Excel models, articles, or other written deliverables. Exceptional time management skills suitable for a complex and autonomous work environment. Willingness to work or attend meetings outside traditional business hours and to take on projects with limited notice, if necessary. Ability to travel and work in various environments, which may be challenging or not easily accessible (e.g., factories, hospitals, mines). Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and local office languages, adaptable for differing perspectives and seniority levels.
