Position Overview: The Veterinary Support Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring outstanding medical care for our clients and their beloved pets while also providing exceptional customer service. You will set the standard for technical and customer support in our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. Key Responsibilities: Welcome clients and their pets, gather vital signs, and accurately document information in electronic medical records. Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgeries, dental care, and euthanasia procedures under appropriate supervision. Ensure patient comfort by providing restraint and safely processing laboratory samples and medications. Schedule appointments, educate clients on care, relay results, and maintain up-to-date patient records. Prepare patients for surgeries and assist in monitoring them during and after procedures. Execute in-hospital treatments, including administering medications and maintaining patient hygiene. Contribute to training new team members and share knowledge to foster team growth. Maintain a clean and organized hospital environment, performing regular cleaning duties. Additional Duties: Take on various tasks assigned by supervisors. Support front desk and phone operations as needed. Supervision: You will work directly with veterinarians for patient care, while overall direction will come from the Hospital Operations Manager or Lead Veterinary Technician. Qualifications: Preferred: 1+ years of experience in veterinary practice or appropriate animal care experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Compassionate and professional demeanor, especially in challenging situations. Proficient in telephone and computer skills. A collaborative team player who is eager to learn and adapt. Work Environment: Most responsibilities are completed at the Veterinary Hospital, requiring physical activity such as bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing for extended periods. Expect direct interaction with clients and pets regularly. Contacts: You will frequently communicate with clients, veterinary specialists, and product/service providers used by the practice.
