About the Role of a Physical Therapist: Physical Therapists (PT) are healthcare professionals responsible for diagnosing and treating individuals of all ages who face medical challenges or health-related conditions that impede their mobility and ability to perform daily activities. PTs assess each patient and create personalized plans that employ various treatment techniques to enhance movement, alleviate pain, restore function, and avert disabilities. Physical therapists provide care in diverse settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools, sports and fitness facilities, workplaces, and nursing homes. State licensure is mandatory in every state where a physical therapist practices.
