Job Description The Premium Tax Compliance Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing premium tax compliance, reporting, and strategic planning for our insurance operations. This position will manage surcharge and assessment compliance for insurers, requiring interaction with senior executives. Strong business acumen and the ability to articulate strategies are essential. We are seeking a proactive leader committed to fostering talent and enhancing team potential. Key Responsibilities Manage the timely and accurate preparation and submission of state premium tax returns and estimates for various entities. Ensure compliance with state-mandated assessments and surcharges, remitting them promptly to tax authorities while minimizing the tax impact on the business. Act as a primary liaison for inquiries and audits from state tax authorities. Conduct thorough tax research, staying updated on tax law changes and industry trends, ensuring all tax positions are documented for compliance. Provide essential accounting and operational support across all business areas. Oversee daily, monthly, and quarterly operational activities, ensuring financial data is accurate and reliable. Ensure compliance with SOX requirements for all transactions and support SOX testing requests. Deliver high-quality reporting and analysis for internal and external use. Develop processes, systems, and controls for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness. Conduct ad-hoc analysis as requested by senior management. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, recommending solutions proactively. Lead the evaluation and automation of currently manual processes, overseeing system implementations. Supervise and mentor staff, ensuring successful completion of job responsibilities and supporting career advancement. Participate in special projects as required. Collaborate effectively with departments outside of Finance. Qualifications In-depth knowledge of premium tax regulations, accounting principles, and insurance industry standards is crucial. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Strong familiarity with US GAAP. A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, including at least 5 years in management roles with increasing responsibilities, particularly within insurance accounting operations. Experience in a publicly traded company is preferred. Unquestionable ethics and integrity. Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. The base salary range for this position will be reflective of the candidate’s experience. Additionally, all employees are eligible for an annual performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
