About the Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Senior Environmental Claims Expert to elevate our innovative team. This position offers flexibility to work from any of our offices in Albany, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or Springfield (MO). Additionally, remote work is available from anywhere in the continental United States. In this role, you will report to a manager based in New York City, focusing on adjudicating both first and third party commercial environmental claims, particularly complex storage tank claims, ensuring excellence in the results we deliver for our clients. Key Responsibilities: Adjudicate high-level commercial environmental claims with minimal oversight, addressing complex issues that significantly impact the department. Conduct thorough investigations, collecting and analyzing detailed information to resolve undefined issues effectively. Report claims trends and developments to senior management and underwriters to inform decision-making. Review claims forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to evaluate policy coverage related to losses. Promptly investigate claims by interviewing all involved parties to gather needed insights. Manage claims undergoing litigation proactively and effectively. Ensure timely management of tasks to achieve optimal financial outcomes and swift resolutions. Set accurate claim reserves while understanding how policy wordings influence the reserving process. Identify loss drivers and trends to enhance claims management, focusing on reducing frequency and severity through careful data analysis. Assign and coordinate expert resources to facilitate case resolution. Prepare comprehensive reports documenting all aspects of the claims process. Implement innovative solutions to achieve the best financial outcomes for our clients and the company. Negotiate efficiently for cost-effective solutions that are beneficial for both our clients and the company. Manage mail processing and prioritize workloads effectively to meet deadlines. Engage in clear and professional written and verbal communications with stakeholders, including insureds and claimants. Maintain a strong commitment to effective claims management throughout your responsibilities. Qualifications: At least seven years of experience in adjudicating commercial environmental claims with exposures of $100,000 or more. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required; a J.D. is preferred. Additional relevant insurance designations or equivalent experience may substitute for education. Must be a Licensed Claims Examiner (as required by state), with the ability to obtain necessary licenses within 120 days. Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of the insurance industry and the financial implications of claims management. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships effectively. High-level evaluation and strategic assessment skills. Proven negotiation abilities that contribute to successful outcomes. Customer-oriented with strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently. Ability to articulate the financial value of your contributions across various levels within our clients' businesses. Capacity to exercise discretion and independent judgment in significant matters. Compensation: The base salary range for this position will depend on geographic location and the candidate's level of experience.
