Middle Market Technology Underwriting Role

We are excited to expand our Middle Market Technology P&C team and are seeking an experienced Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter. In this role, you will champion the customer experience by identifying unique risks and delivering comprehensive solutions for their Property & Casualty technology insurance needs. This position offers hybrid working flexibility from locations including Pittsburgh, Indiana, Overland Park KS, St. Louis, Cleveland, Iowa, or Nebraska. What to Expect in This Role: Build and nurture relationships with broker partners and customers across various industries to support business objectives. Utilize your expertise in Private Equity underwriting for risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to maintain a profitable book of business. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams such as claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting, while expanding your knowledge in this innovative sector. Leverage your technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to enhance relationships with key distribution partners in your assigned region. This role may be filled at either the Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level, with the hiring manager determining the appropriate level based on experience and qualifications. Basic Qualifications: Underwriting Specialist: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years in Underwriting or Market Facing areas, or High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support areas, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1 or more years in Underwriting or Market Facing areas, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support areas, and Knowledge of lines of business and relevant legal and regulatory guidelines. Familiarity with timelines for quotes on new and renewal business. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Executive Underwriter Level: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years in Underwriting or Market Facing areas, or High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support areas, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3 or more years in Underwriting or Market Facing areas, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support areas, and Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with timelines for quote requests. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. Established relationships with technology-focused broker partners. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office. The salary for this position varies: $75,000 - $165,000 annually, with the Underwriting Specialist range being $75,000 - $125,000 and the Executive Underwriter range being $98,500 - $165,000.
