Join Our Dynamic Team as a Fire Alarm and Security Systems Specialist! Job Summary: As a Fire Alarm and Security Systems Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing safety and security across various environments. Your main responsibilities will include installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing fire alarm and security systems, while confidently working with minimal supervision. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to vital safety initiatives. Essential Job Duties: Troubleshoot fire alarm systems to accurately identify faults, including ground faults. Repair or replace damaged components such as Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP), power supplies, and alarm-initiating devices. Possess in-depth knowledge of various manufacturers' clean agent and high-pressure suppression systems. Utilize required tools and test equipment (e.g., multi-meter, megger, laptops for programming) for efficient repairs and replacements. Have a comprehensive understanding of fire alarm codes and standards to ensure compliance. Program and become proficient in software associated with diverse fire alarm systems. Handle and replace explosive actuators such as squibs and gas cartridge actuators with the utmost safety. Maintain a professional line of communication with internal and external customers, as well as offsite monitoring companies. Exhibit punctuality and responsibility in completing scheduled projects on time. Track work orders, materials, and time on projects using Field Service Lightning. Complete accurate documentation on work orders to maintain clear records. Adhere to safety programs and actively participate in weekly toolbox talks. Keep the company-provided vehicle clean and well-maintained at all times. Be available for on-call status to manage emergency service requests as necessary. Attend training sessions to stay updated on the latest technologies, codes, and standards in the field. Provide training to new technicians on fire protection systems and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the team. Qualifications The qualifications detailed below are representative of what is required to successfully perform this role. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience will be considered. Education, Training, Certifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. NICET or state-specific certification is preferred. Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements: A minimum of 2 years of experience in the fire life safety industry, particularly with fire alarm systems, is required. NICET Level 1 Fire Alarm Certification is strongly preferred. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with colleagues and customers. Systems and Software Skills: Experience with business intelligence systems such as Sage 300 CRE or similar is preferred. Professional computer skills for at least 2 years are preferred. Other Qualifications: A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. Compliance with drug and alcohol policies and background screening requirements is mandatory. Occasional travel of up to 20% may be necessary. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Accommodations may be made for qualified individuals to perform essential job duties. Physical Requirements: This position requires bending, climbing ladders, lifting over 50lbs, reaching above shoulders, and standing/walking for extended periods. Vision acuity for both close and distance, as well as adjusting focus, is necessary. Work Environment: The role may involve working outdoors with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise. Indoor office work may also be required. Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times in compliance with safety policies.
