Salary : $37,440.00 Annually Location : Lancaster, SC Job Type: FULL TIME Department: Building Maintenance Opening Date: 02/19/2026 Description Under general supervision, performs semiskilled maintenance on building, grounds and equipment, which includes duties in carpentry, plumbing, refrigeration, painting, heating, and/or mechanical or electrical repair. Operates related automotive and power equipment. Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent. Examples of Duties Performs routine maintenance on buildings, fixtures, furniture and equipment. Performs minor electrical, plumbing and heating repairs. Reads and interprets drawings and specifications relating to electrical, mechanical, carpentry and HVAC tasks. Paints interior and exterior of buildings as assigned. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Ensures that safety is practiced in all phases of work. Takes and recommends actions to eliminate hazards. Operates hand and power tools to complete assignments. Performs various other miscellaneous duties such as cleaning court house, gathering files for clerk of court, cutting grass, running various errands, etc. Typical Qualifications Requires a high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by one to two years of semiskilled and unskilled experience in carpentry, electricity, heating, and plumbing, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a vehicle, hand and power tools, etc. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or up to twenty-five pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; work involves walking or standing for periods of time, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and performing manual tasks. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to sixty pounds. Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things. Interpersonal Communications: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or direction from supervisor. Language Ability: Requires ability to read a variety of diagrams, blueprints, policy and procedure manuals, equipment manuals, etc. Requires the ability to speak with and before others with clarity, voice control and confidence. Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations. Requires the ability to learn and understand principles and techniques; to make routine independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information and to understand and implement basic machinery functions. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with co-workers. Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, and to determine time. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape, and visually read various information. Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes using tools; to operate motor vehicles and heavy equipment. Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, control knobs, buttons, switches, catches, tools, etc. Must have moderate levels of eye/hand/foot coordination. Color Discrimination and Visual Acuity: Requires the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color; requires the visual acuity to determine depth perception, peripheral vision, inspection for small parts; preparing and analyzing written or computer data, etc. Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing in uncomfortable physical conditions and under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines. Worker may be subject to danger or risk to a moderate degree. Physical Communications: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear).
