GENERAL PURPOSE: The Loss Prevention Officer plays a pivotal role in enhancing safety and security within our store by preventing theft and fraud. You will greet and engage every customer, creating a welcoming atmosphere while remaining watchful against theft. Your responsibilities will include monitoring store entrances, exits, and the sales floor, in accordance with loss prevention strategies designed to reduce operational shortages. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment: Prioritize safety and engage in safe practices while aiding store leadership in sustaining a secure environment for associates and customers. Ensure a prominent presence in the store through warm greetings and proactive safety monitoring. Maintain a clutter-free environment to ensure clear access to emergency exits. Building Strong Teams & Partnerships: Deliver outstanding customer service through friendly greetings, eye contact, and supportive interactions. Treat every customer and associate with respect and courtesy. Demonstrate professionalism and promote recognized company programs. Engage with internal and external partners via meetings and educational events. Undertake additional responsibilities to support loss prevention initiatives as necessary. Mitigating Theft & Fraud: Monitor store and sales floor environments for potential theft by observing suspicious behaviors. Document signs of theft and share insights with store and loss prevention leadership. Follow established protocols for responding to theft incidents. Apply best practices to enhance productivity and minimize operational inefficiencies. Minimizing Operational Shortage: Promote awareness and understanding of effective processes for reducing operational shortages among store associates. Oversee and validate checkout processes to ensure adherence to proper procedures. COMPETENCIES: Work Process Management Business Acumen Planning, Alignment & Prioritization Talent Development Collaboration Leading by Example Effective Communication Accountability & Execution QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent; an AA degree is preferred. One year of supervisory experience in retail or relevant training is preferred. A year of loss prevention or security training is favorable, with an active Security Guard License being an advantage. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication abilities. Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with store teams. Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills are essential. Compliance with relevant laws and regulations for security roles is mandatory. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA: Consistent punctuality and attendance are crucial. Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing and moving throughout the store. Able to lift and carry objects weighing over 25 lbs. as necessary. Must be capable of bending, stooping, or crouching as business needs dictate.
