Mechanical Estimator

Snapshot / Role Overview We're seeking a Mechanical Estimator in Sacramento, CA to develop accurate and competitive bids that drive project wins and company growth. Impact - Secure new commercial mechanical projects through accurate, competitive estimates - Strengthen client relationships by delivering timely and professional bid proposals - Contribute to company profitability through precise cost analysis and value engineering - Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities in the Greater Sacramento market Responsibilities - Prepare detailed estimates for commercial HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects - Perform quantity take-offs from plans and specifications using Bluebeam and estimating software - Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing - Analyze project specifications to identify scope requirements and potential risks - Develop bid proposals and present estimates to leadership for review - Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather project information - Coordinate with project managers during project handoff to ensure estimate accuracy - Maintain organized bid files and historical cost data for future reference - Track bid results and adjust estimating strategies based on market conditions Requirements Must-Haves - 3+ years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial construction - Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, and estimating software - Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems - Experience estimating design-build, hard bid, and GMP projects - Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Nice-to-Haves - Field experience in mechanical construction or installation - Experience estimating projects for hospitals, schools, or government facilities - Knowledge of prevailing wage and union labor requirements - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering Compensation & Logistics Competitive salary depending on experience; benefits include health insurance, PTO, paid holidays, and performance bonuses.
