Qualifications Education : Must be a graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care). If you don't have an associate degree, you can still qualify with 5-7 years of experience or by holding an NBRC certification . A bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience : At least 2 years of respiratory care experience required. Must include at least 1 year in a critical care setting . Professional Development : You'll need to complete one approved department project each year , starting within 3 months of hire. Licenses & Certifications CPR Certification : Must be completed within 30 days of hire (must include both classroom and hands-on skills). For Pennsylvania Applicants : Must have a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in PA. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) . If you earned your RRT after July 1, 2002, you must keep your NBRC certification current. For Maryland Applicants : Must have a Maryland Respiratory Therapist license .
