The DOD covers Military pay and benefits during a Service member's time in a SkillBridge program, providing an invaluable experience for the Service member and the Industry partner. KEY REQUIREMENTS Must be a U.S. citizen Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance Some travel may be required Must be Approved or in the approval process to participate in the DOD's Skillbridge Program Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license Selectee will be required to complete form FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) As a Telecommunications Specialist you will: Ensure that communication data collected from electronic surveillance monitoring equipment is captured and downloaded into various computer systems for analysis, and disseminated for use as evidence. Serve as a liaison between various commercial service providers relating to overt and covert telecommunications installations. Configure, test, install and maintain telecommunications systems for the division. Review and process requests for telephone and data services used in connection with investigative and administrative operations. Perform data traffic analysis on cellular, and telephone usage to ensure consistency and identify discrepancies. Maintain accurate and detailed records regarding existing configurations of data circuits. Keep abreast of changes in operations, services, features of communications systems and equipment, and technology within the telecommunications industry. Provide instructions to investigative personnel on the proper and safe operation of devices, answering any questions relative to the operational capabilities and limitations of the equipment and systems. Perform a variety of administrative duties to include inventory management, reports on system information, invoice processing and bill payment For Quantico Applicants Only: This position is a highly technical and specialized communications position responsible for dedicated communications support to the Render Safe Unit. The Render Safe Unit's operations are designed to locate, diagnose and subsequently disable or destroy improvised explosive devices, and weapons of mass destruction. The Render Safe Readiness Unit (RSRU) Selection will consist of a 5-day testing period conducted at Quantico, VA. During this Selection, each candidate will be extensively evaluated in a number of scored areas. The Selection process is designed to replicate conditions which have occurred during RSRU training and deployments. This is a comprehensive assessment to identify the most desirable candidates for hire based on technical and non-technical knowledge, skills and abilities as well as physical readiness for the mission. In addition to the core technical evaluations, practical problem solving testing and fitness evaluation on which all candidates will be evaluated, candidates will undergo skill-specific testing specifically related to communications systems supporting the counter-IED and WMD problem set. Skill-specific competencies, knowledge and trainability will be evaluated through scenario-based and written evaluations. Only the most competitive candidates who achieve the highest scores in these areas will be retained. Candidates must achieve preferred or acceptable ratings in all assessed events. As a condition of the job offer, candidates who receive ANY unacceptable ratings during this assessment and those with the lowest scores will have their offer rescinded. A candidate who fails to pass the strength and mobility assessment, the swim test, or the interview panels may be removed from the selection process. MAJOR DUTIES Responds to actual and potential incidents. The incumbent works within a dynamic team environment to provide tactical and technical communications systems providing intra-team and national reach back communications capabilities. Under the guidance of senior technicians, maintains and tests specialized communications equipment to guarantee availability during a deployment. Regularly performs system and software updates to optimize performance and standardize capabilities across teams. Meets established proficiency standards and training requirements validated through technical and physical assessments. Maintains skillset for working in austere environments including hot or cold environments, working on ropes at heights, working in confined spaces, and operating in a maritime environment. Incumbent must be available to serve on a duty recall roster. While on recall status the incumbent must remain mission-ready for no-notice deployments at all times. Handles COMSEC items such as keying material, classified material and controlled cryptographic items in accordance with FBI security policies. Trains on and enforces proper protection practices, understands all FBI security regulations and reports any compromise or other security issue involving these materials. At the direction of senior technicians, researches and tests solutions to improve technical capabilities.
