Description This internship program is offered for either semester or summer long with the possibility of extendingGENERAL SUMMARY The Arts Programming Intern will support the Public Affairs team in delivering engaging arts and culture experiences across the IAA campus. This internship offers hands-on exposure to public art programming, artist engagement, and community storytelling. The intern will assist with administrative tasks, event coordination, and creative initiatives that enhance the airport's cultural presence. This is a learning-focused role designed to provide professional development in arts administration and public engagement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist with planning and execution of arts and culture programming at IND, including public art tours and pop-up performances. Support storytelling efforts that highlight public art and artist contributions at IND. Help identify and connect with local artists, musicians, and cultural partners. Provide general administrative support for arts-related projects and events. Work closely with the intern lead - Arts Program Specialist - on defined projects. Collaborate with the Public Affairs team on creative economy storytelling and community engagement. Participate in meetings with the Indy Arts Council and other cultural organizations. Assist with documentation, scheduling, and logistics for arts programming, including installation and removal, and conservation of existing artwork. Support the coordination of artist visits, permits, and event materials. Attend occasional events or tours, including some outside-standard office hours. Other duties as assigned. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES Gain exposure to artist networking and arts administration practices. Learn public art storytelling techniques and community engagement strategies. Develop project coordination and communication skills in a professional setting. Receive mentorship from Public Affairs staff and contribute to meaningful cultural initiatives. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Current student in Arts Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Interest in public art, community engagement, and cultural programming. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work occasional flexible hours, including evenings or weekends. Valid driver's license. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license. Use of a computer and other personal assistance devices (tablets or mobile phone) are a must for this position. Work Environment: This position is performed within an office environment at least 90% of the time. The other 10% the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. With multiple worksites the noise level varies from the office environment and the outside environment. The incumbent in this position is expected to work independently and as part of the team.
