Industrial Engineering Intern

GHSP, based in West Michigan, is a leading global supplier of mechanical and electromechanical systems to the automotive, transportation, and appliance industries. This summer, we're looking for a motivated Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team! This will be a part-time internship, with the possibility of going full-time in the summer. Hours to be determined with the candidate's schedule. Offering valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals. What You'll DoProcess Optimization & Continuous Improvement Assist in analyzing production processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cycle times, and waste reduction. Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to optimize workflows. Participate in time studies and data collection to enhance production line balancing. Performance Metrics & Data Analysis Collect and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), scrap rates, and downtime. Support in identifying trends and potential bottlenecks in production processes. Assist in preparing reports and presentations for management review. Production Support & Shop Floor Engagement Shadow team leaders and engineers to understand daily production challenges. Project-Based Learning & Cross-Functional Collaboration Lead or co-lead a small-scale improvement project with measurable impact. Collaborate with supply chain, maintenance, and quality teams to support operations. Safety & Compliance Participate in safety observations and risk assessments to enhance workplace safety culture.
