Job Title: Packaging Engineer Intern - Summer 2026 (Beginning of June-end of August) Reports to: Quality Functional Deployment Director Shift: Monday-Friday, during normal hours of operation Job Summary This Packaging Engineer Intern position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative packaging solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, creating product specifications, researching sustainable materials, and evaluating testing methods to enhance quality and reduce costs. Essential Duties Assist in development of packaging designs, materials, and processes. Create Product Specifications to document key product design information utilized by customers, manufacturing, and suppliers. Asses recent developments in sustainable materials and market requirements for flexible packaging. Evaluate our current flexible packaging test methods and identify improvements to lower cost and/or improve quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, marketing) to ensure specifications meet all necessary requirements. Implement improvement ideas generated by process improvement system. Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas. Required Skills and Abilities Excellent mechanical and technical skills. Eagerness to develop analytical and problem-solving skills Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-function teams Education and Experience Currently enrolled at an accredited institution, working towards a Bachelor's degree with a focus in engineering packaging or similar related field Ideal fields of study include Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging, Plastics Engineering, Quality Engineering Physical Requirements Frequent sitting, standing, and walking Occasional lifting, carrying, stooping, crouching, crawling, and bending Be able to handle, grasp, and perform repetitive motions Requires the ability to see, hear, touch, and smell Working in a manufacturing environment.
