Outagamie County is looking for 2 (TWO) System Administrator I's Candidates MUST be current Wisconsin residents. Position Purpose: Under the day-to-day direction of the IT Systems Engineering Manager; the Systems Specialist helps to support the County's physical and virtual infrastructure, server applications, databases, and security administration. Perform analysis, implementation, support, maintenance, and monitoring of these systems while following County standards. Provide project management for small to mid-size projects. Key Responsibilities: The following duties are most critical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Plan, procure, implement, support, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the County's server infrastructure, databases, and server/security applications. Create, modify, and delete accounts for users, groups, and servers in Active Directory. Implement and maintain security and standards for servers, databases, and applications. Monitor systems to ensure proper performance. Troubleshoot and repair issues, review and respond to alerts. Perform updates and regular maintenance on servers, databases, and applications. Serve as project leader of small to mid-size server related projects. Write technical specifications, oversee budget and purchasing, coordinate resources and training, plan and perform installation and create documentation. Perform backup and recovery of data/applications/systems and ensure its accuracy. Document systems, applications, inventory, licenses, and procedures. Create training materials for IT and end users following defined documentation standards. Provide mentoring and technical support to other IT staff members. Consult with users to recommend ways IT can help them reach their goals in a cost-effective manner. Assist in the development of IT controls, processes, standards, policies, and procedures. Backup the Senior Systems Engineer, Systems Engineer, and Systems Technician as needed. On-call rotation for functional or hierarchical escalation Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements: Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field Three (3) years server experience Or combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid driver's license This position requires the successful completion of a sheriff's background and fingerprint check after the offer. Required or Preferred Skills: Experience configuring and supporting Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Domains, Domain Schemas, Domain Name Systems (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Security Policy Configurations Experience configuring, supporting, and securing Microsoft Server Operating Systems (2012, 2016, 2019) and SQL Server (2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, or 2019) Experience supporting and securing virtualization technologies and configurations using VMware or Citrix Experience working with network storage (SAN, NAS, Backup, etc.) Experience supporting Microsoft Exchange Excellent communication skills and exceptional customer facing skills with a high degree of professionalism. logical, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills. Experience with handling sensitive and confidential information. Must display initiative, ability to work independently and within a team and be able to use independent judgment. Ability to react quickly to a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. Considerable ability to adapt, learn new technical concepts and perform in unfamiliar environments with or without formal training. Considerable ability to coordinate multiple tasks at once. Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel and crouch. Able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Top Skills & Years of Experience: REQUIRED-3+ years of work experience specifically performing server and security tasks. A solid understanding of how NTFS and SHARE permissions can be used and how to properly secure users, folders, etc. The ability to build servers from scratch both physical and virtual systems. Nice to Have Skills: Laserfiche administration Citrix administration Interview Process: Virtual zoom 30 min with camera on screening call 2nd round - in person panel interview Duration of the Contract: 1 year, with the possibility of being converted to FTE. Onsite or Remote? 100% Onsite position with the potential to work 40% remote after 6 months depending on performance. Candidates MUST be current Wisconsin residents. No relocation allowed.
