Junior Water Plant Instrument Technician (NY HELPS ...

The incumbent provides technical assistance in the routine maintenance and operation of chlorinators, flow meters & transducers, and maintenance and repair of electronic devices (disinfectant system, circuit boards, UV intensity monitors, etc.) used in a modern water treatment plant. Training is provided on a daily basis to learn the functions of a water treatment plant and all aspects of the technical field. The incumbent performs routine calibration and maintenance of field devices, as well as assists in the repair and installation of electronic devices. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate's Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field and three (3) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair and calibration of electronic or electrically operated equipment used in a water treatment plant or other industrial facility; OR; B. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience as defined by the limits of (A) above; OR; C. Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above. SPECIAL NOTE: A valid NYS Driver's License is required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment. Position may require ability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; and able to work shift assignments during the day, evening and nights.
